Academy-award winners Michael Caine, Sally Field and Karl Malden starred in producer-director Irwin Allen's 1979 disaster epic "Beyond the Poseidon Adventure", a pointless sequel to the 1972 classic that also featured Telly Savalas, Peter Boyle, Jack Warden, Shirley Jones, Slim Pickens, Mark Harmon and Veronica Hamel.

After "The Poseidon Adventure", in which the ship got flipped over by a tidal wave, the ship drifts bottom-up in the sea. While the passengers are still on board waiting to be rescued, two rivaling salvage parties enter the ship on search for money, gold and a small amount of plutonium.
