Original 1981 Teaser Trailer

This is the original teaser trailer for the 1981 horror slasher sequel, Halloween II, directed by Rick Rosenthal, based on a screenplay by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. This teaser was not very widely distributed, and has gone under the radar for many years, but was found by James Chandler with some other 35mm Halloween II trailers, meaning this likely had a very short production window, and may have only been intended to be sent theater chain owners as a way to get them to buy the film. Remember, this was back when films were rolled out in waves across different sections of America, not like today where everything is far more synchronized. Though this teaser is almost half a century old, it still feels like modern teaser trailers, and bears a striking resemblance to the 1979 Teaser Trailer for Ridley Scott's masterpiece, Alien. Halloween II was released in 1981 and would become a large influence on many of the sequels. This would be the first appearance of 'slow' Michael, as well as the first film to establish his connection with the Samhain Festival (incorreclty referred to as 'Samhain; Lord of the Dead'), and of course was the film that created the familial connection between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode (who was born as Cynthia Myers and put up for adoption at some point following Michael's murder of their sister, Judith). Halloween II has gone on to become one of the most beloved horror sequels, and is arguably as popular as the 1978 original.
Halloween II
After failing to kill stubborn survivor Laurie and taking a bullet or six from former psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael Myers has followed Laurie to the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, where she's been admitted for Myers' attempt on her life. The institution proves to be particularly suited to serial killers, however, as Myers cuts, stabs and slashes his way through hospital staff to reach his favorite victim.
