The digital premiere of one of the rarest promotional reels for the original Lion King, carefully (and lovingly) graded shot-by-shot and presented in 4K HDR10. The film ran twice in the year of its original release. Once in the summer, and again on November 18th after its overwhelmingly successful first run. This is the trailer promoting that very holiday reissue, sourced from an original 35mm LPP reel. Fans who've followed the film's marketing over the years will notice editing choices in this trailer similar to those later used for The Lion King's 2002 IMAX re-release promo, with one glaring exception: the inclusion of footage from Elton John's "Circle of Life" music video, excerpts of which you can now enjoy in true HDR 4K video. I decided against any restorative clean-up work, allowing viewers to appreciate the trademarked texture, grain structure, and wear markings typical of the analog film format.
